If you have some spare time during your week or weekend, and have a lot of helping animals, it can be a very rewarding experience to volunteer at your local animal shelter. Some of the best memories that I have in my life are the days that I volunteered at the local animal shelter in my town. To be honest, before volunteering, I had no idea how much my time could help so many different animals. I didn't know what to expect when I arrived, but as soon as I got there, I got right to work. My first task was taking the dogs to the designated play area for their daily exercise. I walked the dogs, one by one to the area, and watched as each one experienced freedom and fun. These dogs were so wonderful and lovable! I was so happy to be doing something to help and I will never forget knowing that without volunteers such as myself, these animals would not get the loving care that they need and desire. Volunteering your time at your local animal shelter can help so many. If you think that you may be interested in volunteering, the first step is to contact the shelter or shelters in your area. Let the receptionist know that you are interested in volunteering, and the days and times that you are available. Typically, you will be asked a serious of questions so that the shelter can find a volunteer position that will suit you. Whether you have one hour a day or one hour a week, the good feelings of helping animals will stay with you for a life time.
